The mission of the Indeed Hiring Lab has always been to lead labor market conversations and better inform workers, employers, and policymakers about global labor market trends. And nobody understands better than us the critical role that high-frequency, virtually real-time, and highly localized data play in helping achieve that mission. This is why Hiring Lab has launched a newly redesigned data portal that showcases more of Indeed’s world-class labor market data — more quickly and more conveniently — than ever before.

The new tool is now publicly available on Hiring Lab at: https://data.indeed.com

We’re thrilled to debut this new tool and hope our users will find it as useful and engaging as we do. We know that putting easy-to-access, timely, representative, objective, granular, and relevant data into the hands of our wide audience of consumers, media, academics, policymakers, economists, and other analysts is the best way to foster a greater understanding of the ever-evolving labor market. But while we’ve made some additions and changed a few things, all of the same tools and resources we’ve always provided via our websites and Github repositories are still available — with a few added features for easy visualization and comparison to other data.

Here’s a quick rundown on what’s new, what’s changed, and how to get the most out of the new Hiring Lab Data Portal.

More Data

In addition to our flagship Job Postings Index, our redesigned data portal also includes visualization of and access to Indeed Wage Tracker and Hybrid/Remote tracker data. Together, these three indices provide an unparalleled view into changes in employer demand, tightness in the labor market (as echoed in wage growth), and the relative prevalence of remote work.

Three indices including the Job Postings Index, the Indeed Wage Tracker, and the Hybrid/Remote Tracker, all included in the new Hiring Lab Data Portal.

Data are publicly available for a range of nations, depending on the metric. On the main page, countries which feature across all datasets can be accessed in a summary view using the convenient dropdown on the main page:

Country-specific data can also be accessed by choosing a nation from the drop-down menu within individual data cards. Within nations, headline Job Posting Index data are available for download, visualization, and/or comparison at smaller geographies including state, county, and metro area (where applicable):

More to Do

We have also built new ways to visualize selected data and make it easier to find exact data points in a table view. Within any data card, simply toggle between a plotted time series of the data, or a table view detailing exact data points by date:

And the table view itself is also expandable, from 10 rows to 50, as needed:

Finally, selected and visualized data can also be easily downloaded from the new portal in a convenient CSV or JSON format for easy offline analysis. Simply make your data selections within any given data card and click “download”:

More Transparency

Hiring Lab makes every effort to ensure our data are produced with consistent methodologies and at a regularly scheduled weekly or monthly cadence. But we also know that sometimes stuff happens, and data are delayed or made unavailable from time to time. Our new portal allows us to update users on changes to data availability and/or changes to methodologies or data sources that may impact data interpretation or involve restatements. Simply visit the “What’s new” tab for a running list of data updates and availability:

More to Come

Hiring Lab’s global team of economists and data scientists is constantly analyzing and discovering new insights from Indeed’s proprietary and unmatched databases. Many of these insights are shared first via posts at our various global hiringlab.org websites, and over time are refined and produced at a more regular cadence. Going forward, we expect many of these datasets to be accessible via this new portal, including our AI tracker and others that are currently available only through our Github repositories. As new data are made available, we will add new data cards and post updates in our “What’s new” rundown of data availability.

Data are complex and we recognize the challenges of navigating the universe of various labor market metrics. With the new Hiring Lab portal, our team has worked to turn millions of discrete, raw data points into visible and actionable labor market insights, allowing businesses, policymakers, employees, job seekers, and academics to make better decisions in less time. We hope you will find this tool useful to better understand our ever-changing global labor market.
