Previously he was the quantitative editor and economics writer at FiveThirtyEight, Nate Silver’s data-driven news site; and before that, he was an economic analyst for the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. On Indeed, US seasonal job postings through mid-September are 21% below last year’s level, but they are tracking or exceeding the levels in 2015 and 2016. This year’s slowdown primarily reflects a shortfall in seasonal postings for nonsales jobs. Seasonal openings might be lower this year because more of those jobs are becoming permanent, another sign of a strengthening job market.
