We regularly update this report to track the performance of the labour market. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Irish job postings on Indeed remain elevated. As of 28 April, job postings \u2014 a real-time measure of labour market activity \u2014 were 56% above the 1 February, 2020, pre-pandemic baseline, seasonally adjusted. The trend in job postings has held up well in 2023 as the Irish economy has continued to perform strongly<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some categories have boomed while others lag<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We continue to see considerable variation in the strength of job postings across occupational categories. Occupations in which postings are farthest above pre-pandemic levels include healthcare and social care-related occupations, alongside agriculture and cleaning & sanitation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Four categories are currently below the pre-pandemic baseline: Media & communications, chemical engineering, IT operations & helpdesk and legal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dublin\u2019s job posting trend slips further behind rest of Ireland<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The gap in job posting trends between Dublin and the rest of Ireland has continued to widen. Postings in Dublin are less than 14% above pre-pandemic levels, while postings in the rest of the country are up by 116% over the same period. The global tech sector slowdown is one of the headwinds that has been facing Dublin\u2019s labour market in recent months.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Methodology<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

All figures in this blog post are the percentage change in seasonally-adjusted job postings since 1 February, 2020, using a seven-day trailing average. 1 February, 2020, is our pre-pandemic baseline. We seasonally adjust each series based on historical patterns in 2017, 2018, and 2019. Each series, including the national trend, occupational sectors, and sub-national geographies, is seasonally adjusted separately. We adopted this new methodology in January 2021. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The number of job postings on Indeed.com, whether related to paid or unpaid job solicitations, is not indicative of potential revenue or earnings of Indeed, which comprises a significant percentage of the HR Technology segment of its parent company, Recruit Holdings Co., Ltd. Job posting numbers are provided for information purposes only and should not be viewed as an indicator of performance of Indeed or Recruit.
