We regularly update this report to track the pandemic\u2019s effects on the labour market. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Irish job postings on Indeed remain high. Job postings \u2014 a real-time measure of labour market activity \u2014 were 57% above the 1 February, 2020, pre-pandemic baseline, seasonally adjusted, as of 29 July, 2022. The headline index has shown little movement since mid-May. The Irish labour market remains resilient in the face of cost-of-living pressures and gloomy outlooks in most major European economies. The unemployment rate has dropped to a 21-year low<\/a> and many sectors are still facing staff shortages. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some occupations are booming while others lag<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We continue to see considerable variation in the strength of job posting recoveries across occupational categories. Medical information and community & social service job postings are near triple pre-pandemic levels. But other categories show weak recoveries, including architecture, construction and chemical engineering. Real estate is the only category where job postings stand below pre-pandemic levels. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kildare maintains lead<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Looking across the five largest counties by job posting volume, County Kildare continues to lead, with job postings 109% above the pre-pandemic baseline. Dublin has slipped to the back, at 43% above the baseline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Methodology<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

All figures in this blog post are the percentage change in seasonally-adjusted job postings since 1 February, 2020, using a seven-day trailing average. 1 February, 2020, is our pre-pandemic baseline. We seasonally adjust each series based on historical patterns in 2017, 2018, and 2019. Each series, including the national trend, occupational sectors, and sub-national geographies, is seasonally adjusted separately. We adopted this new methodology in January 2021. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The number of job postings on Indeed.com, whether related to paid or unpaid job solicitations, is not indicative of potential revenue or earnings of Indeed, which comprises a significant percentage of the HR Technology segment of its parent company, Recruit Holdings Co., Ltd. Job posting numbers are provided for information purposes only and should not be viewed as an indicator of performance of Indeed or Recruit.
