Consequently, Indeed\u2019s data is not representative of the overall labour market \u2013 it skews towards tech, management and sales \u2013 but does provide useful insights into India\u2019s ongoing economic transition.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Every month, the Indian workforce gradually transitions towards more formal work arrangements. As the nation transitions, job creation across the formal sector will outpace overall employment growth nationwide. Yet even in a softening job market, there will still be some strong performers, and the past three months have been no exception.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Job postings in cleaning &amp; sanitation rose around 20% over the past three months, ahead of community &amp; social service (+17.4%), dental (+13.1%), nursing (+11.2%) and food preparation &amp; service (+10.3%). Another positive was postings for human resources climbing 2.3%.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, these gains were more than offset by weakness in banking &amp; finance where postings fell 25.6%, along with&nbsp; legal (-22.4%), retail (-16.7%) and loading &amp; stocking (-15.0%).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"940\" height=\"877\" src=\"https:\/\/d341ezm4iqaae0.cloudfront.net\/hiringlaborg\/sites\/6\/2025\/12\/03043804\/image-4.png\" alt=\"Table titled \u201cChange in Indian job postings\u201d. Indeed\u2019s data shows that Indian job postings for cleaning &amp; sanitation, community &amp; social service and dental were the fastest growing over the past three months, while banking &amp; finance, legal and retail fell the most.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">India\u2019s latest remote work trends<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In October, 9.1% of Indian job postings explicitly mentioned phrases such as \u2018work from home\u2019 or \u2018work remotely\u2019 in their job descriptions. That\u2019s up from 7.6% a year ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Remote opportunities are most common in IT infrastructure, operations &amp; support at 18.2% of postings in the October quarter 2025, ahead of community &amp; social service (15.1%) and industrial engineering (14.0%).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The remote share can also vary considerably from year to year. Over the past year, the share has increased the most in IT infrastructure, operations &amp; support (+4.4 percentage points) and installation &amp; maintenance (+3.4 percentage points). By comparison, large declines were observed for veterinary (-2.5 percentage points) and community &amp; social service (-1.9 percentage points). In the October quarter, the remote posting share was higher in 84% of occupational categories, compared to a year ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Changes in remote share can reflect changing attitudes among employers, particularly with regards to work-from-the-office mandates. With vertical and horizontal axes ranging from 0 to 20%, we find that the share of postings mentioning remote work increased considerably in IT infrastructure, operations &amp; support and installation &amp; maintenance. But have fallen sharply in community &amp; social service and veterinary.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Conclusion<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Job creation continues to soften, but Indeed job postings continue to track well above pre-pandemic levels. India appears to be creating more than enough jobs to support their ongoing economic transition, with the unemployment rate stable at 5.2%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>India\u2019s larger challenge is ensuring that the skills of its workforce match the skills demanded by employers. Many employers across India are looking for highly skilled workers in tech and management, and that doesn\u2019t always align with what jobseekers have to offer. Consequently, India\u2019s unemployment rate tends to be higher on average than other countries throughout Asia.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>While Indian job postings have
